Ezdan Real Estate Company, one of Ezdan Holding Group subsidiaries, has announced that it completed the installation of 120,000 water saving devices in 7,000 of its residential units. The project aims at reducing the daily water consumption per capita by 40 to 60% as part of the implementation of a comprehensive plan to convert Ezdan Holding Group properties into water saving entities. This objective comes in line with the National Program for Conservation and Energy Efficiency "Tarsheed", on which the Group has signed, last year, a memorandum of understanding with Qatar General Electricity and Water "KAHRAMAA".

Through such program, Ezdan Real Estate has made great progress in its plan, scheduled for completion by mid-2016, to convert Ezdan Compounds to energy efficient units. The implementation includes a variety of housing units, such as one, two and three bedrooms apartments, in addition to villas. These water saving units are spread over 11 residential villages. Ezdan is currently working on the completion of the next stages with the introduction of new and sophisticated methods to reduce electricity consumption.

Commenting on this, Ezdan Holding Group CEO Mr. Ali Al Obaidli said that this substantial progress in the program comes as a result of Ezdan Holding Group tireless efforts in supporting vital environmental and developmental initiatives that benefit our beloved country. He added that the Group e HhHhspares no efforts to provide necessary backing to initiatives that would create an environmentally aware society, through the construction of resource efficient infrastructures that reduce pollution and keep Qatar clean and safe. In addition to that, Ezdan is keen to cooperate with state agencies in promoting sustainable development, as it operates through a long term vision that aims at preserving resources sufficient for future generations of Qatar.

Al Obaidli pointed out that the MoU the Group has signed last year with Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation "KAHRAMAA" comes in the framework of Ezdan permanent efforts to contribute in community development and support the expansion vision of the state. Over 55 years of experience in the construction sector, the Group has been keen to pay more attention to the protection of the environment and natural resources, as it involves various energy and resources factors. Therefore, implementing the resources rationalisation program is a great opportunity for the Group to be more consistent with its own strategy based on supporting community initiatives that aim to develop the state and society. Moreover, the Group highly appreciates the efforts of those in charge of the organisation of The National Program for Conservation and Energy Efficiency “Tarsheed”.

It is worth mention that Ezdan Real Estate works towards implementing the program through its Maintenance Team and Customer Care Department teams. Such teams include a number of experts and handy professionals who work according to a planned schedule to implement the program in the entire Villages and Compounds by the beginning of 2016, and this is mainly to rationalize the use of water resources and reduce daily per capita consumption by 40%.

Ezdan Holding Group has signed a memorandum of understanding earlier in March 2014 with the participation of His Excellency Sheikh Dr Khalid bin Thani bin Abdullah Al Thani, Chairman of Ezdan Holding Group, and HE Eng. Essa bin Hilal Al-Kuwari, President of KAHRAMAA Corporation, in the framework of strengthening cooperation in support of the plans and initiatives of the National Program for Conservation and Energy Efficiency “Tarsheed”, and within the official efforts to reduce the daily per capita consumption of water and cut its resources wastage.

In this context, it should be noted that Ezdan Holding Group is keen to have an effective and heavy presence in every community development event and rationalisation of state resources initiative. In this regard, the Group has celebrated this year the International Earth Day, in collaboration with both, the Municipality of Al Wakrah  and Qatar Foundation’s “Friends of the Environment Club”, a civil non-profit organization seeking to raise awareness of the community and instil environment protection values. The cooperation aimed at stressing ways to preserve the natural environment, energy conservation and rationalization, and the promotion of green areas. In addition, the Group has launched through Ezdan Mall Company, one of its subsidiaries, the “planting of 22 million trees by 2022” initiative. Such initiative was launched by Ezdan Mall during the inauguration of its Al Gharrafah branch mid-April 2013. It comes in line with the development vision of Qatar, which aims to promote the conservation of the country’s environment.

In this context, Ezdan Mall Al Gharrafah has won “Tarsheed” award as the best commercial building that uses clean energy and maintain rational consumption in Qatar, noting that its construction focuses on using natural sources for lighting rather than electricity dependence.
